Friday Classic Hymns
Every Friday I take an old classic hymn, tell the story behind it, analyze the lyrics and then sing it! Select one below and may you be blessed as you watch.
Hark the Herald Angels Sing
Charles Wesley wrote "Hark How All the Welkin Rings", but that line and some other lyrics were changed over the years. Still, this is surely one of the most in depth and powerful Christmas carols ever written!
And Can It Be?
A classic Charles Wesley hymn which he wrote on the occasion of his conversion. Methodists and other Christians have long found this to be a moving and powerful hymn to sing, because we can all relate to Wesley's awe in the amazing love of Christ who died for us sinners.
Jesus Lover of My Soul
A classic Charles Wesley hymn. Did he write it in a storm? When a bird flew into his office? When he was chased by a crowd after preaching? Whichever story is true, Wesley’s great hymn is comforting to us as we seek to live out our faith.
O For a Thousand Tongues To Sing
Charles Wesley is one of the all time great hymnwriters. These words were inspired by the man who led him to true faith in Christ - although he'd already been an ordained minister for years!
