How Will You Respond to Testimonies About Jesus?

Responding to Jesus

All around us there are testimonies that Jesus is the Son of God. John the Baptist and other believers all throughout the generations have testified and shone like a light for Jesus. I know many people whose lives testified to him. And of course, Jesus’ own works testify to who he is. Nobody could have done what he did but the Son of God. God himself testified in the voice from heaven, we spoke about that on Wednesday. And the Scriptures - the old Testament and the New Testament - testify to Jesus all over the place.

Refusing to Come to Jesus

But have a look at verse 40 of John 5. Jesus says, “Yet you refuse to come to me to have life.” Yet you refuse. There's all these testimonies everywhere. But you refuse. He went on to say to them, “I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. I have come in my Father's name and you do not accept me. But if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. How can you believe? Since you accept glory from one another, but do not seek the glory that comes only from God.”

Looking Apart from Jesus for Truth

These words pierced me as I read them. You know, we are so quick to accept people's self-testimonies, people coming in their own name and saying this, this, this, and this. In today's world of YouTube, Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, we’re continually seeing people testifying about things and we find it easy to just say, “Oh, yes, look at what this guy said. Look at what this person claims.’ Why then do we not accept Jesus who came at the testimony of the Father and his own works and countless, countless people?

Oh, friends doesn't fall into the trap that the Pharisees did with their hearts so hard against God, but looking everywhere else for truth! Jesus is the only way to the truth. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and he has got saving grace for you. He can change your life forever. Don't refuse. Don't harden yourself. Don't go elsewhere. But look to Christ and Christ alone and find life in all abundance.
