Now is the Day (Canaan Melodies #7)

This powerful song was probably used during altar calls in the early days. It is a call to turn to God because time is short! A lovely song and one that is still fitting for us today.

I also tweaked the words slightly. Instead of "night that may last for aye", I have "Jesus will always stay". And instead of "Come ere the day of salvation is gone" I have "come for the day of salvation is here". Rolled off the tongue a little easier!

More info on the song here.

1 Why don’t you start for the kingdom today
Why don’t you turn from sin?
Jesus has opened a living way
Why don’t you enter in?

Now is the day, the glorious day
Day of salvation for all
Jesus is calling, O why delay?
List to his loving call

2 Come for the day of salvation is here
Soon it will pass away
Night with its darkness is coming on
But Jesus will always stay

3 Why do you carry your burdens so long
Knowing your strength is small?
Jesus the Saviour can make you strong
Help you to bear them all

4 Loved ones are longing for you to return
Jesus will welcome you
Hearts that are sad for your coming yearn
Now to yourself be true
